Introduction:

Formed in 2002, MAP is a group of professional photographers who are beginning their careers in the industry. The members of MAP act as a network to help and support each other with monthly meetings. The meetings allow members to discuss their experiences and show their work as well as listen to guest photographers who speak and share their experiences. A yahoo chat group is also in place for members to discuss issues and communicate at any time. MAP is supported by the ACMP.

2005 promises to be an exciting and invigorating year for MAP. Recently a new leadership committee was put in place and we are busy formulating lots of new innovations and exciting changes to make MAP even better than before. We have a new meeting place for 2005 where we have access to AV equipment as well as yummy food at an affordable price. We are also looking at other ways to make MAP membership more valuable and worthwhile.

So stay tuned and regularly check our webpage for more info & updates. If you would like to find out more or be included on our email database, please contact us at maphotographers@yahoo.com.au

Group Projects:

MAP aims to have a group exhibition each year to showcase the talents of it’s members. Many of you will be familiar with our Footy Exhibition shown on the big screen in Federation Square in 2003 and our BLUE Exhibition earlier this year in the foyer of the Telstra Building in association with ‘beyondblue’ the National Depression Initiative, were we raised $1200 for this worthy cause.

In addition to planning another exhibition later in the year, the members of MAP have been invited to take part in a project organised by the Media & Entertainment Alliance of Australia called ‘Defining Melbourne’. This is a project aimed at capturing the quintessential face of Melbourne. Please contact us for more information about this project.
