Collection
Rules
and Conditions of Entry for 2003 (Collection 10)
-
Any photograph using mainly traditional photographic
elements.
-
Hand or computer manipulated and enhanced photographs
will be accepted. Manipulated photographs are those that have been
manipulated and/or combined, significantly altering their original
appearance. All elements should be shot by the photographer.

A print (not transparency), any emulsion, colour
or black & white, of any size mounted on either A3 or 16" x
20" light weight board or matt.
-
Any print which, if accepted, you cannot supply
an original photographic print (unscreened) without headlines or
copy superimposed over the image.
-
Any print which you do not have access or rights
to the original transparency, negative from which an original exhibition
quality print and a reproduction quality transparency or digital
file can be provided.

Any photograph that does not comply with the
conditions specified in ‘The Small Print’.

To avoid any possible embarrassment, please
do not enter any material that does not comply with these requirements.

All photographers who are Australian citizens
or residents (minimum of one year), who earn their income primarily
as a photographer, or did so at the same time of taking the photographs
entered.

All photographic students of a registered Australian
photographic course.
-
All assistants who currently earn their income
primarily as an assistant.
-
Commissioned Photographs taken after July 1,
2001.
-
Non-Commissioned Photographs taken after July
1, 2001.
-
Commissioned Series Photographs taken after
July 1, 2001; consists of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 images
to be submitted in the form of a photo essay or series. Each series
must be related by a theme, technical treatment or subject matter.
No text or written accompaniment will be regarded. A series of images
will be judged as one entry.

Non-Commissioned Series taken after July 1,
2001; as per Commissioned Series Photographs.

Students and Assistants Photographs taken after
July 1, 2001;
All students submitting work must be a registered student of photography
at an approved college, each entry and entry form must be verified and
signed by the head of department of that said course. Assistants must earn
their income primarily as an assistant and entry forms must be verified
and signed by their principal employing photographer.
NEW FOR COLLECTION 10
To assist in Judging this year, entries will be judged
in groupings within the categories. The groupings will be:
Please indicate which grouping you would like your
work to be judged in. The Collection Committee will delegate prints
to groups if none have been specified.
ENTRIES, MOUNTS AND PACKAGING
-
All prints for judging must be on either an
A3 or 16" x 20" light board, card or matt with the image
within these dimensions. Please do not send any glass, or framed
pictures.

Series (minimum of 2 and maximum of 10 images)
to be mounted on a maximum of 3 boards in the form of a photo essay
or series. Each series must be related by a theme, technical treatment,
or subject matter. No text or written accompaniment will be considered.
A series will be judged as one entry.

Supply a CD with files of all your entries using "Mac
files and folder" format. Prepare your originals with Adobe
RGB and supply in folders labelled:

Web Use - 565 pixels height max and 950 pixels
wide max, Adobe (1998) RGB, Resolution 72dpi, jpeg High Quality
-
DVD production - 600 pixels height max and
800 pixels wide max, colour space sRGB, Resolution 72dpi, jpeg High
Quality
-
Book Production - (optional) Supply your final
digital file in a minimum 25mb (30-50mb is preferable) RGB 8 bit
depth Tiff (saved with the Adobe (1998) RGB working space profile
embedded in the image).

Entries outside these specifications will not
be eligible for judging.

Multiple photographs mounted on the same board
will be judged as one entry, unless specified as part of a series.
-
Please ensure there is no name, mark or signature
on the front of prints, or mounts to identify the photographer.

All entries must be packaged in a secure, clearly
identified print case, portfolio or print box.
-
Entries which do not comply with the above packaging
requirements will not be returned.
-
Reusable print cases will be available for purchase
as specified on the entry form at a cost of $121.00 each.
-
If you do not want your entries returned, please
specify on your entry form and they will be securely destroyed.

The judges will be principally working professional
photographers and will be selected by a Collection Committee. Judges
will be chosen for their contribution to, and standing within their
industry and will be acknowledged experts in their field of work.

There will be judges representing all major
streams of advertising, commercial and magazine photography.
-
Judging will be conducted confidentially and
there will be no discussion between judges and entrants concerning
the Collection.
-
Judges will be permitted to enter, however
will not be able to vote on their own work.
-
Judging will take place at RMIT on the 3rd,
4th, and 5th October 2003. The announcement night is 6th November,
2003.
SUCCESSFUL ENTRANTS
It is a condition of entry that each successful entrant
undertakes to supply and donate the following to the Collection:

An archival quality, unmounted, original photographic
print of each selected photograph, with cropping instructions for
inside a 50 x 60cm (20" x 24") vertical frame and window
mount.

A reproduction quality transparency, print,
or scan with 5”x7” proof of each selected photograph for book reproduction.
When supplying scans each successful entry must be on a different
CD.

All relevant details and credits on the making
and commissioning of the photograph, and any other information requested
by The Collection.
-
Successful entrants will be contacted after
the announcement event.
RETURN OF ENTRIES
If requested:
-
Entries will be returned by Australia Post
COD.
-
Entries without adequate packaging will be destroyed
and not returned after the judging.
-
Reusable print cases will be available for purchase
as specified on the entry form at a cost of $121.00.
-
If you do not want your entries returned, please
specify on your entry form and they will be securely destroyed.
- A photographer may only enter photographs for inclusion
in the Collection which are his/her original works.
- By entering a photograph for inclusion in the Collection,
the photographer automatically grants a non-exclusive world-wide royalty
free licence to ACMP to reproduce, at their sole discretion, such photograph
in any publication whether print or digital associated with the Collection,
and in any materials promoting the Collection (whether in the media
or otherwise).
- The photographer is responsible for obtaining all
permissions for the grant of license as referred to herein.
- If a photograph has been taken pursuant to a commission,
the photographer shall obtain permission in writing from the commissioner
of the photograph allowing the photographer to grant the license referred
to herein, and shall if required to do so provide a copy of such written
clearance to ACMP.
- The photographer warrants that she/he has the right
to license such reproduction of her/his photographs entered for the
Collection as referred to herein and completely indemnifies ACMP in
respect to any breach of such warranty.
- The ACMP reserve the right, at their sole discretion,
to exhibit the photographs in the Collection in Australia and overseas.
- Use of any photograph in connection with the Collection
will be credited to the photographer, copyright holder (if not the
same) and The FUJI ACMP Australian Photographers Collection.
- All prints included in the Collection become the
property of the Collection.
- The ACMP undertakes to archive and manage the Collection
on behalf of Australian Photographers and the Australian photographic
industry.
- The ACMP will take all reasonable care of the photographs.
- The judges decision is final and no discussion
or correspondence will be entered into.
- Photographers shall be taken to have accepted all
rules and conditions herein upon submitting any photographs for the
Collection together with completed entry forms and payment of entry
fees for the time provided herein.A photographer may only enter photographs
for inclusion in the Collection which are his/her original works.

It is imperative that all entry forms are correctly
and fully completed and that all details requested, including applicable
credits, are provided. Failure to do so will result in your entry
being disqualified without refund of entry fees.

All entries must be accompanied by two copies
of the entry form part A.
-
One copy must be pasted to the back lower corner
of the mount.
-
The second copy should be clipped to the registration
form (part B) with your cheque and accompany your clearly labelled
CD.

Entry Form
- Entry forms are available to download from

- It is imperative that all entry forms are
correctly and fully completed and that all details requested, including
applicable credits, are provided. Failure to do so will result in
your entry being disqualified without refund of entry fees.
- All entries must be accompanied by two copies
of the entry form part B.
- One copy must be pasted to the back left
hand corner of the mount with the form facing up and a blank 4cm
section visible from the front (see diagram)
- The second copy should be attached to the
registration form (part A) with your cheque and accompany your clearly
labelled CD.
ENTRY FEES
ACMP and AIPP members:
$99.00 for up to 5 entries, additional entries $27.50. A
maximum total of 10 entries with series entries limited to 5 entries.
Non Members:
$154.00 for up to 5 entries, additional entries $55.00.
A maximum total of 10 entries with series entries limited to 5 entries.
Student/Assistant:
$55.00 for up to a maximum of 5 single and series
entries.
ACCEPTANCE FEES
ACMP and AIPP members
$110 for every successful entry up to a maximum of
$330.
Non Members
$165 for every successful entry up to a maximum of
$495.
Student/Assistant
THERE ARE NO ACCEPTANCE FEES PAYABLE FOR STUDENTS.
Late Entries
A late entry fee of $220 for entries received after
19th September 2003. The final cut off date for late entries is 26th
September 2003.
