ACMP News excerpts from the latest edition EDUCATION AND WORKSHOPS
Probably the single most important task for the ACMP is in providing continuing education to our members, through workshops, seminars and speakers -- both from within Australia and from overseas and from inside and outside our industry. In the next few months, Peter Akbiyik will be formulating a plan aimed at providing an Australia-wide programme of seminars and workshops for all divisions of the ACMP. This is very much a two way programme. Every local chapter can participate in providing ideas, venues and the names of great speakers whose participation would be beneficial to photographers in other states. If you have ideas, or need help in specific areas, now is the time to write or fax the national office and let us know. What can we do for our members?
We plan to do this by arranging workshops with working professionals from within and outside our industry as speakers. The main emphasis will be the deregulation of the advertising industry as well as state promotions and education of members and students in business and marketing skills, costing, pitfalls and the use of our website (including software). In addition, we believe that we should advertise visually the work of our members to a greater extent than we have until now. Our members produce work of a high standard which deserves wider and more direct exposure than from the Fuji ACMP collections alone. By exhibiting work by individual photographers and groups within the industry, we enhance their marketability and attract the attention of those who utilise our product. There are several ways in which this can be achieved. For example, the sub committee of the Victorian chapter of the ACMP, will be invited to exhibit at the Melbourne International Flower Show in April 1998, where 200,000 people attend over three days. We plan to organise up to six workshops during 1998 to include such topics as business trends, communications within the industry and clients, contracts, time management and consultation with colleagues in our industry. Further details of these seminars will be available from your state chapter early in 1998. If any member has suggestions to make in respect of these plans, please contact the writer. The Federal Board aims to provide support and information to our members and, to facilitate this, has included in this magazine a questionnaire to obtain your views. In the past the response has been disappointing, but we hope that with the revitalisation of your organisation that it will be more pro-active. Therefore, we request as much input from you as possible. Cheers! Peter Akbiyik, Federal Board ACMP This website copyright 2005 ACMP - PO Box 779 North Sydney NSW 2060 Australia |
